Pill Identification, Pillbox

The Pillbox website was developed to aid in the identification of unknown pills. It combines images of pills with appearance and other information to enable users to visually search for and identify oral solid dosage for medications.

Prescription Medication for Breastfeeding Mothers, LactMed

The LactMed® database contains information on drugs and other chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. Search a drug name at the second search box where it says “Search this book.”

This is an A-Z listing of prescription drugs that includes what the drug is used for, precautions, side effects, etc. You can also use the MedlinePlus search box to go directly to information about the drug instead of scrolling down the alphabetically list. 

PubMed

PubMed is the preferred database by many doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.  Not all resources listed are available in full-text, but each article does include a short description including a summary of the outcome of the medical research (clinical trials, case studies, etc.). PubMed® comprises more than 30 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

NatGeo for Kids has a great balance of action games, quizzes, and and funny activities. These quizzes are quick, fun and easy and the action games offer a surprising variety of games to play (Our personal favorite is Dung Beetle Derby). Go here to learn more about animals and if you love trivia!
 

Crash Course

The Crash Course team has produced free, engaging videos on high school and college level topics ranging from the humanities to the sciences.  These courses have become to the casual learner through their YouTube channel. Topics include: Anatomy, History, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, Government, Mythology, Psychology, Sociology, Study Skills and more! The videos do contain small pop-up ads that do not stop the video from playing. 

TDOE PBS Class Schedule and Lesson Packets

This Memphis PBS Channel 10…Broadcast programming, developed by the Tennessee Department of Education in partnership with teachers across the state, will cover English language arts (ELA) and math for first through sixth grades. For seventh and eighth graders, recorded video lessons will be available online starting April 13.
